Leaving Orgate
Leaving Orgate
One last look back at Orgate Farm as storm clouds collect and the threat of a downpour impels us to press on with our return journey through Clints Wood, back through Marske and home to Grinton.

Me and the 'Pig'
Me and the 'Pig'
Mrs Simpson brought out a block of 'pig lead' to show me what the local miners produced back in the day. Little did I know at this time that most of my Ward ancestors were lead smeltors who actually owned and operated smelting mills nearby in Clints and Whashton.

Mrs. Simpson, the postmistress at Marske in 2009
Met this kind lady in Marske. Someone told me if I wanted any historic information about the area she would be the one to see. She was indeed a gold mine of information (or should I say lead mine) ;)
