  • Notes
    • Daniel 'Devil Dan' Blois was a balladeer and gained local fame for a ballad he wrote in tribute to two little girls, aged 6 and 4 who, in 1842, wondered off from their farm and were lost and died in eachothers arms. It was originally called 'The Lost Children', but later became known as 'Babes in the Wood'.
He wrote two other ballads that have survived called “Captain Mann" and “The Brave Volunteers”.

In reference to Daniel's older brother Henry Blois is stated:"He hired his brother Daniel to operate his blacksmith shop and the shop was the center of the farming community. They sharpened axes, mended hooks, and made everything from horse collars to log chains."
