1728 Jane Coates Jane, the wife of Edmund Coates of Moor Close buried
This is the first legible entry in the Muker parish registers to mention Moor Close.
1732 -1737 William Coates Children of William Coates baptisms:

1738 Elizabeth Coates Elizabeth, wife of William Coates of Moor Close buried.
Elizabeth’s maiden name was Kearton.
1739 Grace Handcock Grace Handcock, widow, poor, of Moor Close buried.
1750 Edmund Coates Burial record says ‘Edmund Coates, boarder of Moor Close. (likely the father of William Coates)
1753 William Coates Burial record says ‘William Coates, householder of Moor Close
1765 Elizabeth Calvert Elizabeth, age 27, is ‘of Moor Close House’ when she marries Lazerus Metcalfe of Thwaite. I haven’t figured out whose daughter she is.
1768 Jonathan Calvert
– admitted tenancy		 Manor of Muker in Swaledale in the County of York
At the court Leet, Court Baron and customary court holden at Muker, in and for the said manor on Wednesday 10th of May, one thousand, seven hundred and sixty eight for Thomas Smith of Gray’s Inn London Esq., Lord of the said manor, before Robert Wensley, gentleman steward of the said Manor.Thwaite
Jonathan Calvert upon the surrender of Barnard Calvert out of court, into the hands of the Lord of the said manor before James Bell deputy bailiff and in the presence of John Calvert and William Alderson two customary tenants of the said manor, is admitted tenant of one dwelling house, one stable and 2 closes called Moor Close with the appurtenances, situate standing lying and being within the territories of Thwaite of the ancient yearly fineable customary rent of 2s 1d and he to pay fine for the said £2 1s 8d in hand
1769 Jane Calvert Marriage of Jane Calvert ‘of Moor Close’ to Thomas Harper. This is possibly a sister of the above Elizabeth Calvert.

1785		 Jonathan Calvert Baptism records of Jonathan’s children Isabel, George, Bessy, Jenny, Elizabeth and Alice Calvert state residence as Moor Close.

1795 Betty Calvert Burial record says her abode at time of death was Moor Close.
1803 Isabel Calvert Daughter of Jonathan Calvert above. Burial record says her abode at time of death was Moor Close.
1816 Jonathan Calvert Burial record says abode Moor Close.
Probate record states 6th July 1816, Calvert, Jonathan of Moor Close House, Parish of Grinton, yeoman.
Admon says that William Calvert and George Calvert, the two sons and administrators of …the said Jonathan Calvert, late of Moor Close House, above mentioned yeoman, deceased… etc.
1837 George Calvert His will of July 2 1836 states he is of Moor Close House, yet he does not mention it in the will. He leaves everything to his three sisters Jane (Jenny) the wife of Jonathan Hunter, Alice (wife of John Alderson), and Elizabeth (wife of John Milner Guy). Alice’s son James Alderson is named sole executer.
Alice (Calvert) Alderson dies in 1840 and Elizabeth (Calvert) Guy’s husband John dies in 1837, the same year as George Calvert’s will.

1838 Charles Scott Baptism record of child Alice Scott 1838 says ‘of Moor Close’. His other children born ‘Moor Hills’ (near Ravenseat).
1841 Charles Scott Census: Residing at Moor Close with wife Ann (nee Alderson) and four children. Ann was a daughter of John Alderson of Close Hills, Ravenseat, and Sarah.
1841 John Alderson Census: Residing in a separate dwelling at Moor Close with wife Mary (nee Milner) and two children (born at Thorne & Skeughead). He is a son of Christopher Alderson and Jemima of Ravenseat. By 1851 John and family have moved back to Ravenseat.
1845 Thomas Guy His wife Elizabeth dies at Moor Close in July.
1846 Thomas Guy His son John dies at Moor Close in April.
1851 Thomas Guy Census doesn’t name Moor Close, but Thomas Guy is living there because he is listed after Skeugh Head and before Thwaite Village. A widower with six children.
1855 Thomas Guy This is son of above Thomas Guy. Marriage record says he is ‘of Moor Close’.
1858 Richard Guy Son of Thomas Guy. Richard’s marriage to Rosamund Rukin says he is ‘of Moor Close House’.

Mary Ann Peacock (dairy maid)		 1861 Census widower and head of household at Moor Close. Farmer of 71 acres employing 1 worker.
1863 Thomas William Calvert Infant son of James Harker Calvert died at Moor Close House. So, this means between 1861-63 James moved to Moor Close.
1865 James Harker Calvert Moor Close Jamie’s daughter Eleanor born at Moor Close.
1866 Mary Calvert Widow of Moor Close Willy died at Moor Close. She must have been living there with son James Harker Calvert at the time.
1871 James Harker Calvert  (Moor Close Jamie) 1871 census he is listed at Moor Close.
1881 James Harker Calvert 1881 census he is listed at Moor Close. But by 1891 he is living in Thwaite Village.
1891 So far haven’t found the occupant of Moor Close in 1891. Possibly it was unoccupied.
1901 James Harker Calvert James is back at Moor Close as the head of household, but Simon and his family are also living there.
1911 James Harker Calvert Head of household in 1911 census.
1913 James Harker Calvert Moor Close Jamie died at Moor Close. Monumental inscription reads: “In loving memory of James Harker CALVERT of Moor Close who d 13 Mar 1913 aged 84 yrs. Also of
Margaret his wife who d 22 Jul 1901 aged 72 yrs. Also of Thomas William their son who d 27 Nov 1863
aged 1 yr 9mths.”
1913 Elizabeth Calvert Wife of Simon Calvert. Memorial inscription reads: “Also his beloved wife Elizabeth d 7 Aug 1913 aged 55 yrs.”
1934 Simon Calvert Memorial inscription reads “In loving memory of Simon CALVERT of Moor Close d 30 Jan 1934 aged 76 yrs.
