He was predeceased by a brother, Walter; two sisters, Julia, Emma. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors 7-9 p.m. tonight in Lohnes Funeral Home, Windsor, where a legion service will be 7 p.m. Wednesday. Ashes will be scattered at a later date. No flowers by request. He was employed with Cobi Foods. He was an elder in Kentville Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. He is survived by his wife, the former Lucy Cox; four daughters, Linda (Mrs. Owen Keddy), White Rock, Kings County; Colleen, Bolivia; Susan (Mrs Gary Vidito), Kentville, Heather, Bedford; a son, Bernard, Maccan, Cumberland County; a brother, Michael, Consort, Alta.; a half-brother, Jeffrey Benedict, Lockhartville; stepmother, Mrs. Rose Mary Benedict, Lockhartville; eight grandchildren. He was predeceased by an infant daughter, Marion; infant twin brother and sister; his twin brother, Edward. The body is in W.C. Hiltz's Funeral Home, Kentville, visiting 2-4 today, 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Thursday. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday in Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall, Park Street, Kentville, Mr. Chris Plant officiating. Cremation to follow. Burial will be in St. George's Cemetery, Falmouth. Born on April 28, 1935, in Windsor, she was a daughter of the late Courtney and Ruth (MacInnis) Miller. Jean enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and loved to play cards. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Hants County Branch 009, Windsor. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She is survived by daughters, Linda (Rod) Harvey, Brooklyn; Michelle (Kevin) Lyghtle, Slave Lake, Alta.; son, Duane, Brooklyn; granddaughters, Leslie and Melissa; great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Tyus, and Trey; sisters, Margaret (Sonny) Murray, Sydney Forks; Ruth (Bill) Mahar, Walton; brothers, Everett (Judy) Miller, Poplar Grove; Johnny, Rawdon. | 1008 | Benjamin was the first `Englishman´ to settle at Little Compton in 1675. He was a hero in King´s Philip´s War. He was involved early on in the war at Pease Field Fight in Jun 1675, later in the massacre at the Great Swamp in Dec 1675, and he lead the expedition that resulted in King Philip´s capture in Aug 1676. For a popular introduction to King Philip´s War including Benjamin´s involvement and excerpts from his diary, see King Philip´s War: the history and legacy of America´s forgotten conflict, by Eric B. Schultz and Michael J. Tougias, Countryman Press, Woodstock, VT, 1999. Benjamin dictated to his son Thomas his story published in 1716 as Entertaining Passages Relating to Philip´s War. He was born in Halifax on September 04, 1945, the youngest of six children of the late Alexander and Emma (Roode) Berry. He was an enterprising entrepreneur who, together with his family, founded Berry’s Furniture, building it into a successful business and a local institution. In addition to his parents, Don is predeceased by his two older sisters, Helen Onda Thorpe and Emily Boyd. The east side was Kingross after Angus Ross, the first settler who had greatly prospered. The upper part of the west side together with the Forest Glen brook. Farm was called Forest Glen. The first farm north of Sugar Loaf was Michael Lamont. Then came three MacKinnons, Ross and two MacKenzies and Murray, with two MacPhersons to the rear of the MacKenzie lots. On the west side of the river, counting from the south just above Portrea, were Archibald MacLean, George Ward, Richard Marple, MacLeod, MacKay, MacKay, Stewart, MacKinnon, MacLeod, MacInnis, Ross, MacLeod, Stewart and MacInnis. ------------------------------ George Ward of Nova Scotia, working in Margaree, met and married Elizabeth Marple. They lived on a part of her fathers farm. Their children follow. James and Robert went early to the United States. Richard, the youngest son, was a very active man. He saved and managed until he was able to buy the Wesley Ross farm which he later sold to David Marple. He became a contractor in Boston.
