Although the deceased had been failing in health for the past two years, death came unexpectedly to his family and friends. He leaves a widow, five sons and five daughters to mourn the loss of a loving husband and a kind father. The daughters are Alice, Mrs. Harry Shaw, Windsor; Nellie, Mrs Archie Peach, Windsor Forks; Ethel, Mrs. George Lowthers, Kentville; Mary of Windsor; Hilda, at home. The sons are Russell, Clark, Wentworth; Fred, Charlie, and John of Three Mile Plains. He also leaves three sisters, Mrs. James Kuhn, Windsor; Mrs. Minnie Gould, Ellershouse; Mrs. Bessie McLellan, Calgary.The funeral service was held Sunday January 11th at 2 o'clock. Rev. C. Amy Ward .. daughter of Nicholas & Sarah Ward
Died Dec 15, 1851 Aged 6 years
By her age when she died, she would have been born in 1845. Nicholas and
Sarah's marriage wasn't until 1850, so either they lived together without being married for 5 years, or Amy was the child of a previous relationship.
Looking into the possibility that Amy's mother was Sarah's older sister Mary Ann CALDWELL since Mary Ann died in March, 1846, only 3 months after Amy and Mary Maria's births, perhaps she died from complications of giving birth to the twins.
