201 Paul Roy Atwell – 60, of Black Rock, Kings County, passed away Saturday, June 23, 2018 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Wolfville, he was a son of the late Donald and Grace (Davenport) Atwell. Paul picked apples for Elderkin’s in Wolfville, worked in construction in Winnipeg and was then employed with F. A. Tucker in Truro working with power poles for a period of time. He was a farmer at heart, right to the end, and also sold firewood and kindling part-time. He was a hard worker, very thoughtful and enjoyed joking with people. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, with a passion for guns and weapons. He is survived by children, Stanley, Wilmot; Troy, Coldbrook; Toni, Berwick; Nick, Berwick; Alex, Ontario; Haley, Cambridge and Hayden, at home; his twin sister, Paulette (Brian) Kehoe, Fall River; sisters, Marjorie (Bruce) Davison, Melanson; Patricia "Patti" (Bill) Gould, Berwick; Sheila (Dell) Deveau, Berwick; Carol Atwell, Stratford, Ontario; Donna (Allen) Keddy, Melanson; Mickey Chippett, Whitehorse, Yukon; Terry Crane, Richmond Hill, Ontario; brothers, Robert Atwell, Sunken Lake; Darroll (Peggy) Atwell, Melanson; Eugene Atwell, West Brooklyn; Fred Davenport, Mahone Bay; numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. 202 Robert Milton Atwell1946-2012
Robert Milton "Bob" Atwell - 65, of Berwick, Kings County, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2012 in the V.G. site of the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in Wolfville, Kings County, he was a son of the late Norman and Mabel (Walsh) Atwell. He had been employed with and was foreman of Stress Crete in Burlington, Ontario, retiring due to injury. He later drove taxi and had to retire due to ill health. He enjoyed singing and playing the guitar, exercise and training on the speed bag. He kept busy with yard work and especially enjoyed being outdoors and listening to old-time country music. He is survived by his wife, Veronica (Moore) Graves; two children, Sharon Atwell (Dlor) and Jason Atwell, both of Hamilton, Ontario; five sisters, Aileen Strong, Halifax; Murna (Guy) Tracey, Kelowna, British Columbia; Hilda Krull, Margaretsville; Freda Brewster, Dartmouth; Pauline Keddy, Canning; a brother, Lenlie, Sunken Lake; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Beverley; two brothers, Burt and Walter. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. There will be no visitation or funeral service, by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the doctors and nurses of 5A at the Dickson Building at the V.G. Site for their kindness, care and compassion. 204 Walter Gordon BowesAge 98, died of a heart attack September 18th at Windsor Hospital. He was born in Windsor, N.S. the son of Amy and Frederick Bowes and has been living the past six years in Middle Sackville, N.S. He leaves to mourn his wife Marion, sons Frank (Lynne), Ian (Gloria) and daughter Karen (Neil), grandchildren, Alexander, Amy, Laura and Sarah.His teaching career started in Nova Scotia at Bramber, then Lantz, Bedford and Dartmouth. He moved to St Bruno, Quebec in 1956 as a French specialist in the high schools south of Montreal. After his retirement he completed courses in translation. He loved language and tried to learn a new word each day. He enjoyed crosswords and listening to the radio, He had an amazing sense of humour and touched a lot of people in his lifetime.His body has been donated to Dalhousie University for medical study.Many thanks to all the caring people from the hospital and Northwood Special Nursing Care during the past few years.There will be a memorial service for Gordon at Mount Bruno United Church, 25 Rue Lakeview, St. Bruno, Quebec on Sunday October 16 at 2pm.Published in Montreal Gazette on Sept. 23, 2016 Source (S561)
 
205 WARD, Shirley Ann Peacefully passed away to her heavenly home on October 4, 2015 at Carpenter Hospice. Beloved wife of Robert for 52 years. Proud mother of twin daughters Debra Ward and Kathlene Evans and son-in-law Tim Evans. Remembered with love by her grandchildren Bronwyn, Braydon and Cade. Predeceased by her granddaughter Brianne. Cherished by her sister and friend Sherrie Clark, nieces Leslie-Ann and Colleen and nephew Scott. Sadly missed by her canine companion Paris. Shirley was a past member of the RCAF and was a talented church pianist for many years, as well as a piano teacher. As a member of Glad Tidings Pentecostal Church, Shirley often gave words of encouragement. Friends are invited to Glad Tidings Pentecostal Church (1401 Guelph Line, Burlington) on Friday, October 9th at 10 a.m. for a Memorial Service. 208 March 8, 1932   ~   October 17, 2017Harold Walter Fletcher, age 85, of Ellershouse, Hants County, formerly Newport Corner, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, surrounded by his loving family.Born in Newport Corner, Hants County, Nova Scotia, on March 8, 1932, Harold was the son of the late Walter and Ethel (Forrest) Fletcher. Harold was former owner/operator of Fletcher's Tires in Ellershouse for many years. He was a dedicated volunteer with the Citizens on Patrol, and an advocate for saving the barn swallows in Hants County, building one nest at a time. He especially loved country music, dancing, bowling and playing darts. His greatest joy was spending time outside in the fresh air, gardening, fishing or the annual hunting expeditions. COTTER, (Palmer, nee Brydon), Mildred June – 92, formerly of Kemptville, ON and Auburn, NS, passed away on June 17, 2011 in Tillsonburg, ON Mildred, a well-known school teacher in Kings County, was born September 12, 1918 in Black Rock, Kings Co, NS. She was the eldest of ten children born to the late Rupert and Edna (Pineo) Brydon. She is survived by her three children who loved her dearly, Robert (Sheila) Palmer, Toronto, ON; Claude (Eleanor) Palmer, Berwick, NS and daughter Elaine (David) Lyons, Kemptville, ON; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Lillian Winott, Kentville, NS; Marjorie MacPherson, White Point, NS; Jean (John) Ens, Round Hill, NS and Pearl (Willis) Huntley of White Point, NS; and her brothers, Edward, (Eleanor) and Avard (Judy) Brydon both of Black Rock, NS; together with many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents Mildred was predeceased by her infant son Logan Palmer; 1st husband Wilbur Palmer; 2nd husband Clarence Cotter; brothers William and Phillip (Kathleen) Brydon; sister Leonore (Francis) Spinney. All who knew Mildred will remember her as a serious student and advocate of the Bible. By home visits and by many letters written to friends and family, Mildred shared the good things she learned from God’s Word. A memorial service will be held in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 337 Main Street, Kingston, NS on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 2:00 PM.

Thompson, Ervin Wilfred, age 88, of Newport Station, Hants County, passed away on Friday, December 18, 2015, at the Dykeland Lodge, Windsor, where he resided for the past year. Born on June 28, 1927, in Windsor, Hants County, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late John and Sadie (Caldwell) Thompson. Ervin was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be sadly missed by his family and all who knew him. He was employed as a carpenter for the Halifax Shipyards, retiring in 1992 after more than 20 years of service. Ervin is survived by his wife of 66 years, the former Shirley Pauline Flynn; his daughters, Carol (John) Levy, Brampton, Ont.; Valerie (Barry) Kelley, Brooklyn, Hants Co.; Wendy Thompson (Jeff Ross), Windsor; 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; sister, Kathleen Mestre, Halifax; brother, Ralph in Ontario; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Aubrey “Aub”, Raymond and Roy; sisters, Pearl Dixon, Mabel Hunter and Dorothy Mosher. The family wish to Thank all the staff of Dykeland Lodge, for the care and compassion they showed Ervin during his stay there. A committal service was held at Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, P.O. Box 2218, Windsor, B0N 2T0, at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2015, followed by a reception. Interment was at the Ste. Croix Cemetery, St. Croix. In lieu of flowers, donations were requested to be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia, or to the Hants County Branch of the S.P.C.A.

213 Eugene A. "Buzz" Bezanson - 69, of New Minas, passed away Monday, October 18, 2010 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville.

Born in Wolfville, he was a son of the late Jeremiah "Jerry" and Dorothy (Keddy) Bezanson.

He served with the Military Police and later worked as an insurance investigator for EI. He most recently helped his son at Bezanson Painting and Renovation. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, people and especially spending time with his wife, Linda.

He is survived by his wife, the former Linda Pudsey; his children, Chris (Heather), Alberta; Darren (Lori), Kentville; Kathi Rae Graves (Brian), Port Williams; Scott Robichaud, New Minas; Jo Robichaud, British Columbia; Holly-Lyn Robichaud (Jamie Sawler), New Minas; five grandchildren, Tanisha, Jordan, Jared, Nathaniel and Brandon; two sisters, Joyce (Kenneth) Brown and Judy (Wayne) Baxter, both of Coldbrook; a sister-in-law, Dorothy (Ken) Richert, Kentville; four brothers-in-law, Douglas (Lynn), Lower Sackville; Charles (Colleen), British Columbia; Alex (Kellie), Kentville; Eric, New Minas; many nieces and nephews.

He was a compassionate, kind and devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be sorely missed by all who knew him and especially his best friends, Gizmo and Poe.

He was predeceased by a son, Troy.

Born in Windsor, he was the son of the late Herbert and Maude Miller. He was a heavy equipment operator having worked at Fundy Gypsum and also in Halifax. He enjoyed his times at his cottage on Panuke Lake with family and friends. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Bob liked to travel and has been in every province in Canada, some several times, also several states including Alaska. He also enjoyed going south in the winter. Bob liked to read and work in the flower gardens, watching sports and he was a very good carpenter. Bob is survived by his wife, the former Ellen Dill; sons, Terry (Lori), Jeff (Julie); grandchildren, Jennah, Zachary (Bree), Zoe and Madison; great grandson, Chase; sister, Maxine Turner; brother, Don (Rae) Miller; extended family, Cindy (Murray) Cavanaugh, Chris (Sandra) Northup, Tom Northup, Pastor Andy (Cathy) Northup and their family Adam (Janna), Dylan and Nellie; sister-in-law, Geraldine Smith and her family; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother, Charlie and sister-in-law Mary Miller; and also by his brother-in-law, Harry Turner.
