202 | March 8, 1932 ~ October 17, 2017Harold Walter Fletcher, age 85, of Ellershouse, Hants County, formerly Newport Corner, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, surrounded by his loving family.Born in Newport Corner, Hants County, Nova Scotia, on March 8, 1932, Harold was the son of the late Walter and Ethel (Forrest) Fletcher. Harold was former owner/operator of Fletcher's Tires in Ellershouse for many years. He was a dedicated volunteer with the Citizens on Patrol, and an advocate for saving the barn swallows in Hants County, building one nest at a time. He especially loved country music, dancing, bowling and playing darts. His greatest joy was spending time outside in the fresh air, gardening, fishing or the annual hunting expeditions. Harold loved large horses and it brought him great joy to be able to share this interest with his family.Harold is survived by his wife of 32 years, the former Beverly Faye Blanchard (DeMont); his children, Barry (Wendy) Fletcher, Lequille; Helen (Dewar) Lindsay, Windsor; Ginny (Danny) Caldwell, Ellershouse; Bruce (Denise) Fletcher, Gormanville; Kathy (Paul) MacIntyre, Ellershouse; Donna Blanchard, Seaforth, Ontario; Robert (Elaine) Blanchard, Ellershouse; Reuben (Sherri) Blanchard, Ste. She was the eldest of ten children born to the late Rupert and Edna (Pineo) Brydon. She is survived by her three children who loved her dearly, Robert (Sheila) Palmer, Toronto, ON; Claude (Eleanor) Palmer, Berwick, NS and daughter Elaine (David) Lyons, Kemptville, ON; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Lillian Winott, Kentville, NS; Marjorie MacPherson, White Point, NS; Jean (John) Ens, Round Hill, NS and Pearl (Willis) Huntley of White Point, NS; and her brothers, Edward, (Eleanor) and Avard (Judy) Brydon both of Black Rock, NS; together with many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents Mildred was predeceased by her infant son Logan Palmer; 1st husband Wilbur Palmer; 2nd husband Clarence Cotter; brothers William and Phillip (Kathleen) Brydon; sister Leonore (Francis) Spinney. All who knew Mildred will remember her as a serious student and advocate of the Bible. By home visits and by many letters written to friends and family, Mildred shared the good things she learned from God’s Word. Born on June 28, 1927, in Windsor, Hants County, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late John and Sadie (Caldwell) Thompson. Ervin was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be sadly missed by his family and all who knew him. He was employed as a carpenter for the Halifax Shipyards, retiring in 1992 after more than 20 years of service. Ervin is survived by his wife of 66 years, the former Shirley Pauline Flynn; his daughters, Carol (John) Levy, Brampton, Ont.; Valerie (Barry) Kelley, Brooklyn, Hants Co.; Wendy Thompson (Jeff Ross), Windsor; 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; sister, Kathleen Mestre, Halifax; brother, Ralph in Ontario; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Aubrey “Aub”, Raymond and Roy; sisters, Pearl Dixon, Mabel Hunter and Dorothy Mosher. The family wish to Thank all the staff of Dykeland Lodge, for the care and compassion they showed Ervin during his stay there. A committal service was held at Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, P.O. Box 2218, Windsor, B0N 2T0, at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2015, followed by a reception. Interment was at the Ste. Croix Cemetery, St. Croix. Born in Windsor, he was the son of the late Herbert and Maude Miller. He was a heavy equipment operator having worked at Fundy Gypsum and also in Halifax. He enjoyed his times at his cottage on Panuke Lake with family and friends. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Bob liked to travel and has been in every province in Canada, some several times, also several states including Alaska. He also enjoyed going south in the winter. Bob liked to read and work in the flower gardens, watching sports and he was a very good carpenter. Bob is survived by his wife, the former Ellen Dill; sons, Terry (Lori), Jeff (Julie); grandchildren, Jennah, Zachary (Bree), Zoe and Madison; great grandson, Chase; sister, Maxine Turner; brother, Don (Rae) Miller; extended family, Cindy (Murray) Cavanaugh, Chris (Sandra) Northup, Tom Northup, Pastor Andy (Cathy) Northup and their family Adam (Janna), Dylan and Nellie; sister-in-law, Geraldine Smith and her family; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother, Charlie and sister-in-law Mary Miller; and also by his brother-in-law, Harry Turner. Visitation was 7-9 pm Wednesday, August 24, 2016 in the Lindsay Windsor Funeral Home (902-798-2232), 194 King Street, Windsor. Memorial service was held 2 p.m. Thursday, August 25, 2016 in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home Chapel. A private family interment was held in the Maplewood Cemetery, King Street, Windsor.
