She went to high school in Onalaska, Washington with her one true love, Marvin Davis. She worked at Mary Lou’s Tavern, was a checker at Roy’s Grocery Store for a number of years, and her last job was a clerk at the Chinook Post Office. She was a member of the Long Beach Elks Club. Lois was often a hostess for friends and family as they came to the beach to enjoy clamming, fishing, and hunting with her and Marvin. She enjoyed going to Bingo with her daughter, Pam, playing Bunco, crocheting, going to the casino, and playing cards with the family. She taught her children compassion for others by example, as she cared for her parents, sister, brother-in-law, and friends during their final days.Lois is preceded in death by her husband, Marvin, four sisters; Rena, Louise, Sis, May, three brothers; Manson, James, Bobby, and her parents, Agnes and Manson. Lois is survived by her children; Bill and wife Linda of Forks, WA, Marva and husband Don of Naselle, WA, Pam and husband John of Fairview, OR, Jeri and husband Frank of Milwaukie, OR, grandchildren; Amber, Darcy, Robby, Deena, Danielle, Kary, Kim, Kelli, Rory, Amanda, several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Harbors Home Health, 201 7th Street, Hoquiam, WA. 98550. | 2795 | Madison Wisconsin pioneer settler, b. Rutland County, Vt. She moved to Blue Mounds, Wisconsin Territory, in 1836, and in Apr., 1837, became the first white woman settler in Madison. She was the mother of Victoria Wisconsiana Peck, the first white child born in Madison. In 1837 the Pecks built an inn in Madison to lodge the workmen building the new capitol, and in 1840 the family moved to Baraboo. There, her husband having abandoned her and left for the California gold fields, Mrs. Peck farmed and supported her family for many years. She later wrote several vivid accounts of her frontier life.
