| 3026 | NASELLE — Donald Hall, 86, passed peacefully March 28, 2017, at his home with his wife, Marva by his side. Don was born in Mitchell, South Dakota on May 16, 1930, to Mamie and James Leslie Hall. When Don was 12 his parents moved to Longview, Wash., where he attended high school and worked in bakeries. He married Wilma Jean Madsen and they had five children, Patrick of Vancouver, Diane of Soldotna, Alaska, Donna of Longview, Peggy of Kelso and Julie of Longview. After a divorce, he married Marva Hall in 1962. They moved to the Long Beach Peninsula in 1973 where Don opened up a bakery at Sid’s Market. He later worked at Clarke Nursery and upon completing his Master Gardener classes opened up his own nursery, The Hall Gardens, where he created a beautiful garden filled with rhododendrons, maples, and rare and unusual trees, shrubs and perennials. Don found great pleasure walking among the garden with friends who shared his love of plants.During this time, Don and Marva adopted their daughter, Amber. Don and Amber shared time on the tractor, loading bark and doing other gardening chores. Customers returned each season to see how the gardens and Amber were growing. Don also served several terms as hospital commissioner. In 2007, they moved to their 5-acres in Naselle. Don loved the peaceful setting as he sat on the deck with his faithful dog, watching the wildlife, and his granddaughters, Brooke and Klara Davis, playing in the yard.Don was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Stan, Leonard and Russell. Don is survived by his children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will be missed. At his request, there will be no service. | Source (S1575)

| 3040 | Newspaper article in the Leeds Mercury, May 25 1844. Felony: On the 20th inst. Mary Hillary of Arkengarthdale who had lived the last half year as a servant of Mr. George Ward of Reeth, innkeeper, was brought by warrant before Francis Morley, Esq. charged with having stolen from her master a £5 note and other articles. It appeared that on the 11th inst. Mr. Ward locked up his desk which contained £48 and on the 16th he found that a £5 note was missing. Having some suspicion that his late servant, Mary Hillary, had taken it her box was searched in her presence and three others by the constable and found therein two aprons, a sleeping jacket, and two pairs of stockings, the property of Mrs. Ward. The constable then tried if the key of her box would open the desk; which it did. She was committed to take her trial at the next sessions for the Riding. | WARD, George (I8669)

| 3042 | Nicholas and Polly lived on a farm owned by their Father James, bounded East by the Township line between Newport and Douglas, North by the Kennetcook River, over a mile from Township line west, thence Southerly to base line, so called, over a mile, thence to Township line, making over a mile square, and a river running from Rawdon down through centre of farm, emptying into the Kennetcook River. The said Nicholas was a carpenter and a very persevering mechanic. He took a contract to build a vessel which was constructed a quarter of a mile up from the mouth of the little river, and was superintended by John Corney, and launched into said river about 1807. Was sloop-rigged, carried a square topsail, and was sailed for a time by a stranger, afterward by Captain Barzillai Mosher (of the above Barzillai), of the sixth generation. this vessel carried plaster from Newport to Philadelphia, with a capacity of about 60 tons. After a time was sold. She was the first vessel built in Newport, Hants County, N.S. The above farm was willed to Nicholas and Joseph Mosher, sons of James. They died, and were buried a few rods from the little river opposite where the sloop was built, with others. The farm was sold to strangers, not any of the name living on it now, (but near by). (quote from 'The Mosher Family, From the Seventeenth Century to the present date.' Compiled by William Mosher of Mosherville, Hants Co. In Dec. 1796 Nicholas Mosher, builder had completed two bridges, one over the Cogmagun River and the other over the Kennetcook River; inspectors found the Kennetcook Bridge 'well and substantially built and finished in a good and workmanlike manner'; He received 200 pounds for building the two bridges. | MOSHER, Nicholas (I26)
