He maintained as much independence as possible and his astounding will was an example to us all. Peter was generous, loyal, loved to laugh and was a born teacher. He had many good friends from all over the world who stayed connected throughout his remaining difficult years. Well known in the Dog Show world he won many awards both locally and internationally with his beloved Scottish Deerhounds, including the National Specialty in the U.S.A. and also Best Breed at the Westminster Dog Show in New York. Born June 17, 1916 in Wentworth, Hants Co., she was a daughter of the late George and Blanche (Caldwell) Killen. She graduated as an R.N. from the Children’s Hospital, Halifax in 1939 beginning a lifelong career as a well respected nurse. Ruby married Percy Baltzer in 1940 and lived in Aylesford until 1986 when they moved to Truro. Ruby will be remembered for her love of her family, her dedication to Nursing and her keen ability at the bridge table. She is survived by son, Dr. Peter Baltzer, Sidney, BC; daughter, Patricia (David) Scammell, Truro; grandchildren, Erin, Darcy and Helen; great-grandchildren, Mason, Marley and Milo. She was predeceased by her husband, Percy in 1994; her sister, Helen Robinson; brothers, Orrick, Herman. No service and visitation by request.
