- Halifax Herald announcement:
Shafner - Mills Nuptials
Granville Ferry was the scene of a very attractie and fashionable wedding on Wednesday last, October 3rd. The wedding took place at 10 a.m. at the house of the bride's father, A.D. Mills, of the successful and well-known firm of Pickels & Mills of Annapolis, where his daughter, Mary Edith, was united in matrimony to Charles, son of James Shafner, of Granville Ferry. The groom is a member of the firm of Shafner & Peggott, of Bridgetown, and formerly of the company of Shafner Bros., of Clementsport. The bride was beautifully attired in white satin and chiffon, trimmed with lillies of the valley and orange blossoms. She wore a rich bridal veil with orange blossoms. The decorations were asparagus and bridal wreath. The ceremony was performed by Rev. H.H. Roach of Annapolis in the presence of a large circle of invited guests. After a breakfast served at the home, the bride and groom left on the Flying Bluenose for Boston and Montreal via New York. On their return this popular young couple will make their home at Bridgetown.
