St. John's church was the scene of a quiet wedding this morning at 11 o'clock when Mr. Thomas Edward Porter and Miss Laura Elizabeth Vale were united in marriage in the presence of the immediate relatives and a few friends. Rev. Canon Smith, rector of the church, officiated, Mrs. E.B. Smith played the wedding marches and soft music during the ceremony.
The bride, who was given away by her brother-in-law, Mr. Frank Lord, was attended by her sister, Mrs. Lord. She wore her travelling costume, a becoming three-piece suit of navy tricotine embroidered and a large hat of black mohair trimmed with French flowers. Her corsage bouquet was of pink and white roses. Mrs. Lord was wearing a smart suit of navy tricotine and mauve poke and corsage of mauve sweet peas.
The bridegroom was assisted by his brother-in-law, Mr. J.J. Merry.
After the ceremony the bridal party went to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lord for the wedding breakfast.
Mr. and Mrs. Porter left on the noon train for a honeymoon at Jasper Park and on their return will reside at Coronation Court. Mr. Porter is a member of the editorial staff of The Star and a number of his associates were interested witnesses of the ceremony.
