- Frail, George Eldrid
Age 95, of Centreville, Kings Co., passed away on Friday, February 13, 2015, in Shannex-Orchard Court, Kentville. Born in Centreville, he was a son of the late Walter and Georgia (Bennett) Frail. He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving with the RCAF as a bomber pilot from 1941-1946. After the war, he attended TUNS, graduating as a civil engineer in 1951. He enjoyed working on water-related projects where he designed dykes, causeways, dams and bridges from Newfoundland to Saskatchewan. His projects of note were the first Annapolis River Causeway, the spillway design of the Gardiner Dam, Sask., and the Avon River Causeway. George was a Life Member of the Professional Engineers of Nova Scotia and a member of both the Masonic Lodge and the Philae Temple Shriners. He is survived by daughters, Patricia Maxwell, Toronot; Eleanor (Arnold) Melanson, Truro; Pamela Frail (Brian Steeves), Wolfville and daughter-in-law, Gini Frail, Falmouth; sister, Myra Levy,, Orchard Court, Kentville; grandchildren, Tiffany, Andrea, Nadine, Kimberly,, Zachary, Martha, Naomi and Hannah; great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Grayson, Clara, Sophie and Sion. He was predeceased by his wife, Marion (Moses); son, Mark; great-granddaughter, Jenica; sisters, Elizabeth Butler, Frances Brown, Gertrude Tupper, Daisy Tupper, Winnifred Irving, Katie Armstrong, Ruth Eaton, Florence Armstrong, Norma Crandall and Laura Porter. There will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 17, in White Family Funeral Home, Rev. Marc Potvin officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Lakeview Cemetery, Lakeville.
