  Based on a burial record from Christ Church Windsor indicating this man was age 81 at his death in 1841. So he would have been 59 when Samuel was born in 1820. I can only assume that he was either a grandfather or uncle of Samuel and is probably the reason Samuel and his brothers chose Windsor Nova Scotia to go to. They arrived the year before Andrew's death and since Andrew does not appear in the 1838 census for all of Nova Scotia I assume he arrived 1839-40. There was an Andrew Lowther who served in the British Army during the American Revolutionary War as follows: Andrew Lowther Rank: Private Date of Commission: 25 Dec 1777 Enlisted by Lt. Green (but isn't necessarily this Andrew). I found this note on a post in the GenForum at genealogy.com "The Irish branch comes from George the youngest son of William Lowther of Ingleton youngest grandson of Sir Richard Lowther. As far as I can find this was the start of the Lowthers in Ireland" There is also an Andrew Lowther listed in 1748 in the Royal Hospital Chelsea Pensioner Registers of Soldiers Who Served in Canada in the 30th Regiment of Foot as follows: Andrew Lowther - age 45 ____ affected by consumption & rheumatizm . Born at Londonderry a Heelmaker. This would make him born in 1703! This 30th Regiment of Foot served in Nova Scotia trying to capture Fortress Louisbourg during this time period.
