- Hazel Fern SCHOFIELD (née Huntley) Obituary
At the age of 78, passed away on February 13, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family at her home, after a valiant battle with cancer. She was the cherished wife of Deward (Dewie) Schofield, and their love story spanned over 60 beautiful years. Born in Kentville, Nova Scotia, Hazel was the proud daughter of the late Judson and Marion (Ogilvie) Huntley. Her life was a tapestry woven with love, dedication and kindness, as evidenced by her devotion to her four children, Lorelee (Gordon) Koreck, Carmen (Linsey) Schofield, Dustin Schofield and Jennilyn (Darren) Jaillet. She was the adored grandmother to Mason Koreck, Brody and Payton Schofield, Sawyer, Britton and Beckett Jaillet, and shared a special bond with her siblings: Willis Huntley, Eleanor Brydon, Marilyn Lucas, Judy Laevens, Claudia Pasieka, Murray Huntley and their families. Hazel's unwavering faith in Jehovah God was the cornerstone of her life, as she embraced the hope of a resurrection and everlasting life on earth in God's due time (Psalm 37:29). All who were touched by her generosity, her kindness and tireless support felt they had encountered a true friend whose compassion and wisdom left an indelible mark on their hearts. Hazel's legacy is one of unconditional love and the joy of giving, which she lived out daily. A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 308 Lake St., Grimsby, ON, on Saturday, February 24, at 2 p.m. and a live ZOOM stream for those who cannot attend in person, with the following credentials: Meeting ID: 84092927373, Password: 309135. In lieu of flowers, Hazel would have appreciated donations to Jehovah's Witnesses online donation at www.donate.jw.org or a charity that resonates with you, as a tribute to her giving spirit. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Grimsby congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses for their unwavering support, the palliative care team, especially Nurses Jennifer and Melissa, the nurses and doctors at the Juravinski Cancer Centre and Hospital and everyone who provided Hazel with comfort and care in her final days. Your kindness will always be remembered.
