Gender Female Death 18 Jan 2021 Windsor, Hants, Nova Scotia, Canada - It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Harriett M. “Haddie” Smith of Windsor, at the age of 96, on Monday, January 18, 2021, in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born in Sweets Corner, Hants Co., she lived in Windsor most of her life. She was a daughter of the late Howard and Alice (McLeod) Barker and she was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Haddie enjoyed going to the family cottage at Cockscomb Lake, going on camping trips and especially operating Smith's Corner Grocery for 16 years, where local children enjoyed getting “penny candy”. She volunteered at Dykeland Lodge and had a real love of attending to her flower gardens.
She is survived by her son, Gary (Carol Hale) and daughter, Heather Fletcher, all of Windsor; granddaughter, Kathleen Smith (Luke Campbell), Ottawa; Katrina (Andrew) Rogers, Windsor; grandsons, Jason (Lori) Smith, Sackville; Adrian Moore, Windsor and Jeffrey (Diane) Fletcher, Cape Breton; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Haddie was predeceased by her husband, Gilbert "Gil"; daughter, Diane in infancy; brother, Howard Barker; and sisters, Lillian Phillips and Ruby Crouse.
