Mr. John C. Church of Belmont, Newport, son of the late Israel Church of Windsor, was for many years a person of unimpeachable conduct, but had remained a stranger to a satisfactory testimony of the pardoning love of God. During his last illness, he become increasingly anxious for the personal assurance of his acceptance through Christ. And although a reserved temperament of mind, he was able to evidence his assurance of the divine favour, and hopefully slept in Jesus, on the 9th of May 1872, in the 76th year of his age. O, how is it, that so many who desire salvation, are willing to rest short, of the redeeming Son of God?
