- Obituary:
NORTHUP, Esther Mae - 95, Dykeland Lodge, Windsor, passed away peacefully Thursday October 14, 1999, in the lodge with her family at her side. Born June 8, 1904, Brooklyn, Hants Co., she was a daughter of the late Jehu and Edith (Ward) Ward. She was a resident of Stanley, Hants Co. most of her life before moving to Gypsum Mines with her devoted daughter, Marie for several years, then to Dykeland Lodge for the past seven years. She enjoyed going for drives and going on the bus trips. She loved animals, music and enjoyed life to the fullest. She enjoyed and cherished all the aspects of each chapter of her life. Her greatest love in life was her family and everyone who knew her, loved her and her pleasant smile. Esther was a very kind person. She was a member of St. Stephens Anglican Church. Esther was a very loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great- grandmother and sister. She will be sadly missed by her family, friends and community. She is survived by daughter, Florence "Flossie" and husband Earlston "Bob" Harvie, Curry's Corner; Marguerite "Marg" and companion, Ronald Nurse, Orangville, Ont.; Marie and husband John Cochrane, Gypsum Mines; sons, Eric (Joyce), Ellershouse; Claude (Ethel), Wolfville; Howard and companion Debbie Dunbar, Newport Corner; Irving (Patsy), Three Mile Plains; Grant (Irene), Windsor; Garnet and companion Madge Lake, Windsor; sisters, Jean and husband Alan Latta, Dartmouth; Lena Northup, Spryfield; 36 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; 13 great great- grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Roy Northup in 1962; daughter, Geraldine "Gerry" Hughes; son, Harold; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Pauline Ward; brothers, Melvin "Mel" Ward, Gordon Ward; sons-in-law, Ernest Hughes, Gordon Lowe. Visitation Sunday 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. in Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home. Funeral service Monday at 2 p.m. in St. Stephens Anglican Church, Stanley, Rev. Robert Brush officiating. Burial to follow in St. Stephens Anglican Cemetery. A reception will follow in the Stanley Hall. Donations to Dykeland Lodge (New Bus Fund) or St. Stephens Anglican Church.
