  Mary took the name of Chandler when her mother married Joseph Chandler. Some time after Mary's birth, the family moved to New York where Mary met and married Aaron Bloodgood Jr. Perhaps this is the reason John Scott (her grandfather) was in New York when he died of Yellow Fever.
