One and 1/2 storey wood construction with a steeply pitched end gable roof. 1/4 inset chimneys. 3 bay façade with central doorway. 6/6 windows with flat hoods. Brick foundation. Two-tiered pedimented entry porch with extended entrance on first floor. Classical supports, balustrade and stair railing. Greek influence in the return eaves, pilasters, side lights at entrance and decorative molding at cornices.History: This is one of the houses built by Alfred Troop. Alfred lived there with his wife and children, Alfred and Lilly (Sophia Lovica Ellen Marshall), plus his step-sons, Hugh and John Irvine and a niece, Margaret Troop. Mr Troop kept a store and was post master in a building further down the street. The house was purchased by James E. Shafner in 1874 and it remained in the possession of his heirs until 1984.
