- November 29th, 1865.A Good Man Has Fallen.We regret having to record the death of W. Stairs, Esq., which took place yesterday. The deceased was attacked with paralysis while riding home on the 17th inst.. from which he never rallied. In all the relations of life Mr. Stairs was held in high esteem. As a merchant, a civic ruler, a legislator, and lastly, as the President of the Union Bank, his conduct was marked by a probity highly commendable. As a husband, father and friend, kindness and benevolence predominated. He has ended a long life of usefulness, passing away peacefully in his 77th year with an unstained reputation.Extract from "The Sun and Advertiser."Union Bank of Halifax. - Buried in Camp Hill Cemetery, Halifax
