- BERRY, John Bedford Borden - 79, River Hebert, died February 28, 1996, in Highland View Regional Hospital, Amherst. Born in Chignecto, he was a son of the late Herbert (Hub) and Clara (MacAloney) Berry. He had worked as a miner in the River Hebert coal mine. He was a member of Trinity United Church, River Hebert and a member of Royal Canadian Legion, River Hebert branch 14. He had served overseas with the Royal Canadian Army during the Second World War. Surviving are his wife, the former Winnifred (Winnie) Smith; daugthers, Marilyn (Mrs. James White), Grand Cache, Alta.; Carman (Mrs. Bernard LeBlanc), Strathacona; Susan (Mrs. Brian Hawkes), Warren; sons, John, Springhill; Robert, Brookdale; Chris, at home; Jeff, River Hebert; sisters, Ninie Ripley, Nappan; Thelma Burbine, River Hebert; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by son, James; sisters, Eva Dale, Parth Blenkhorn, Carman, Beatrice Seaman, Hazel Dawson, Edith Smith, Lottie McLellan; brothers, Leonard, Herb; granddaughter, Tiffany Allen Berry. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, legion service 7 p.m. tonight, both in Furlong's Funeral Home, Amherst. Funeral 2 p.m. Friday in Trinity United Church, Rev. Danny Compton officiating.
