- Headstone in St. Edmund's churchyard reads: "In memory of Margaret w/o Thomas Metcalfe who d 14 Jan 1820 aged 45 yrs. Also of John their son who d 17 May 1812 aged 1 yrs. Also Mary Ann their dau who d 19 Mar 1852 aged 36 yrs. Also the above Thomas Metcalfe who d 13 Feb 1862 aged 87 yrs."Obituary from York Herald February 22nd 1862:METCALFE - On the 12th inst., at the house of his son, Sunley Woods, Coxwold, near Easingwold, in his 89th year, Mr. Thomas Metcalfe, farmer, formerly of Orgate near Marske, Richmond.
